The Challenge: The primary objective was to design the critical control interface for Xstrahl's SAARP (Small Animal Radiation Research Platform) device. The existing workflow involved complex, highly technical radiation parameters and machine settings that needed to be managed with absolute precision. The challenge was to transform this dense array of data and controls into a user-friendly, non-intimidating dashboard that minimizes cognitive load and the potential for configuration error in a high-stakes research environment.
The Solution: I created a comprehensive, single-screen dashboard centered around a clear visual hierarchy and modular design. The solution focused on intuitive data organization, utilizing real-time data visualization and status indicators to provide a holistic view for the device's operational state. By carefully grouping related controls and leveraging color-coding for critical safety feedback, the design ensures that researchers can confidently monitor and execute complex radiation protocols with maximum efficiency and reduced risk of manual error.
